#EndSars: FG To Compensate Families Of Dead/ Injured Police Officers

THE Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has assured the families of officers, who lost their lives and those that were injured as a result of the #EndSARS violence, will be compensated.

Adamu, who stated this after inspecting burnt police stations and visiting one of the 11 injured officers still at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, said he was working with the Police Service Commission to ensure that the affected officers got their dues.

"I am working with the Police Service Commission so that those who lost their lives and those injured will get promotion to the next level,” he stressed.

Adamu also disclosed that the Federal Government had adjusted the salaries of all officers to a higher grade in order to encourage them to discharge their duties to the best of their abilities.

“We don’t need to be demoralised or leave the public space for criminals to occupy,” he said.

He however commended the men and officers of the force for the restraint despite the utmost provocation, noting that officers and men of the force would continue to enjoy the Health Insurance Scheme of the government after their retirement.

“While in service, we registered for Health Insurance Scheme but it stops when we retired. Now, the government has put it into legislation that the insurance will cover us even after retirement,” he added.

The Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, promised that the state government would continue to support the police in the discharge of their duty.

“Governor Godwin Obaseki had already approved that the burnt police stations be rebuilt while those that need renovation would be renovated,” he said.
