Abba Kyari, has denied collecting $1.1million bribe from suspected fraudster, Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, alias Hushpuppi, who recently pleaded guilty in the United States. Hushpuppi, who pleaded guilty to various charges, including money laundering, wire fraud, and felony, among others, had said he used Kyari, a leader of the Inspector-General of Police’s Intelligence Response Team, to jail a fellow fraudster Kelly Chibuzor Vincent after both were locked in a dispute presumably over how to share the $1.1million loot received from the Qatari businessperson. Vincent subsequently contacted the victim and informed them that they were being scammed by a syndicate involving him and Abbas, a US court document read. Reacting in a Facebook post on Thursday, Kyari said he only assisted Hushpuppi to get native clothes and caps worth N300,000. Why We’re Holding Sunday Igboho’s 12 Aides In Detention – Department Of State Services Tells Court

Despite a court order to produce them today, the Department of State Services has stated that it is holding 12 persons arrested during a midnight raid on the Ibadan home of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, more commonly called Sunday Igboho, because it is still investigating them. According to the DSS in a detention order it got from a Magistrate Court on July 19 by Justice Mohammed Zubairu, thedefiant secret police stated that the aides were believed to have committed “ the offences of treasonable crimes, illegal possession of firearms” among others. The DSS had on July 1 raided Igboho’s residence in Oyo. Peter Afunanya, the DSS spokesman, had said the security agency recovered illegal arms including seven AK-47 rifles and thousands of ammunition from Igboho’s house. The agency also paraded 12 supporters of the activist, saying they allegedly attacked DSS operatives during the raid. IPOB Vows To Lock Down South-East States Over Nnamdi Kanu’s Detention

  The indigenous people of Biafra will embark on locking down the South-East region of Nigeria until the Nigerian government releases its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The group also stated that the President Muhammadu Buhari government was planning to subject its leader to a media trial before October 21, adding that it would do everything within its reach to free its leader. In a release  statement by the group’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, on Wednesday, IPOB stated that it would commence the weekly lockdown on Monday, August 9. The statement signed by the Head of Directorate of the group, Mazi Chika Edoziem, also noted that those who took part in capturing Kanu including state governors of Igbo extraction should expect hostility from the group.   Abbas, alias Hushpuppi, who recently pleaded guilty in the United States, has narrated how he bribed Nigeria’s celebrated Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, according to court documents. According to the US Department of Justice, a criminal complaint initiated the prosecution of Hushpuppi in February as court documents ordered unsealed showed that Abbas, a 37-year-old Nigerian national, pleaded guilty on April 20. A version of Abbas’ plea agreement filed late Tuesday outlines his role in the school-finance scheme, as well as several other cyber and business email compromise schemes that cumulatively caused more than $24million in losses. Officials said in court filings that Abbas disclosed during interrogation that he paid bribes to Nigeria’s police chief, Kyari, to have one of his rivals arrested and jailed in Nigeria following a dispute over a $1.1million dupe of a Qatari businessperson.  Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho, was arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic with the country’s passport, SaharaReporters has gathered. A  source said Igboho had a Benin Republic passport and was trying to flee to Germany before he was arrested on Monday night by security operatives. “He was boarding a plane to Germany with his Benin Republic passport to meet his family when he was arrested. Remember his second wife and six of his children live in Germany,”the source said. The Department of State Services (DSS) had on July 1 raided the residence of Igboho in Ibadan, Oyo State.  Iddo Sarki community harbours the largest number of students of the university and is about 130 metres away from the permanent site of the institution. It was learnt that the demolition exercise was led by a combined team of the Department of Development Control, FCT ministerial committee on city sanitation and Department of State Service (DSS). A 200-level student, Samuel Ebuka, who was one of the affected students, said he and his course mate contributed N80,000 each to rent an apartment in the community. He said , “I was at the main campus on Saturday when my roommate called me that there was demolition going on, so I rushed to join him to move our belongings out of the house.” He said he could not afford to pay N120,000 for a bed space at the main campus and so decided to join with his colleague to rent a single room.  The Nigerian Army on Wednesday released 1,009 ex-Boko Haram insurgents, who had been in military custody at Giwa Barracks in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. The former terrorists were handed over to the Borno State Government in a secret ceremony that was initially billed to take place at an earlier date but was suspended indefinitely by the military authorities at the wake of the appointment of the Chief of the Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya. According to sources in the army, the ex-terrorists were handed over to the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Zuwaira Gambo, who represented the state government at the event.   A source disclosed that the first-class traditional ruler was alone in his car on his way to the Eganyi community from Okene around 4 pm but was abducted between Ebiya and Eganyi by the gunmen.    The Nigerian Army says it has launched a manhunt for the soldier who allegedly killed his lover, Jennifer Ugadu, an undergraduate of Niger Delta University, Ammasoma, Bayelsa. The Director, Army Public Relations, Onyema Nwachukwu, said in a statement, on Thursday, it was alleged that the student was shot in her apartment by the suspect now at large. Nwachukwu, a brigadier-general, said there was no place for such barbaric act in the army, adding that the Nigerian army had commiserated with the family of the deceased. Nigeria Police Arrest Pastor With Human Skull

the Cross River Police Command have arrested the Pastor of United Evangelical Church, Michael Bassey, for unlawful possession of a human skull. The police also arrested 25 other suspects for various offences committed in the state. Speaking to journalists on Tuesday in Calabar, the capital of Cross River, the state police commissioner, Mr Sikiru Akande, said the pastor, 45, was arrested following a complaint of threat to life from a concerned citizen.  Akande said the suspect was arrested at No. 56 Uwanse by Asuquo Ekpo Street in Calabar South. “ The suspect was arrested with one human skull tied with the complainant’s picture and carved human image with red clothes.  The police in Ogun State have raised the alarm that members of various cult groups are planning to launch attacks that may result in bloodletting and wanton destruction of property in the State. Kogi Polytechnic Student Sentenced To 8 Years For Illegal Possession Of Firearms, Others

  A National Diploma II student of the Department of Public Administration, Kogi State Polytechnic, Shehu Tenimu Mohammed, has been sentenced to eight years imprisonment by the Magistrate Court in Lokoja, Kogi State Capital. Mohammed with Matriculation Number 2018/ND/PAD/170, was sentenced for illegal possession of firearms and unlawful association after he was caught on Friday, April 19, 2021, carrying five rounds of live ammunition and a locally fabricated revolver, while trying to get through the main entrance of the school. A  self-acclaimed prophet has been sentenced to life imprisonment in Ekiti State for allegedly hypnotising and raping a barren woman, a development that reportedly led to her death. IPOB Declares Support For Igboho Over Attack On His Home, Warns Of Looming Crisis

   The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has condemned the invasion of the residence of Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho by the Department of State Services (DSS).  IPOB described the attack on Igboho’s Soka residence in Ibadan, as barbaric and unacceptable. IPOB, in a statement issued by the spokesman of the group, Emma Powerful, also alleged that the Fulani and their collaborators are trying to bring catastrophe to Nigeria. The group asked the Nigerian government and security agents, especially the DSS, to stop taking it for granted. Bandits, terrorists different from IPOB, says El-Rufai

   The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has said the way bandits and Boko Haram terrorists operate is different from that of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra led by Nnamdi Kanu. El-Rufai stated that bandits are not calling for the break up of Nigeria but are just carrying out their activities as a form of business. He said unlike IPOB which is led by Nnamdi Kanu, bandits have no centralised leadership. Despite Attack On Igboho's Home, Lagos Mega Rally Will Hold As Planned

  Olayomi Koiki, spokesman for popular Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho), has said the attack by suspected soldiers on Igboho's house will not stop the mega rally slated for Saturday in Lagos State. Koiki, who appeared in a Facebook live video on Thursday morning, said the agitators knew there would be an attack of such but would not be deterred or discouraged from continuing with the forthcoming rally.  He said, “ We knew something of this nature was going to happen but the rally will still go on as planned. Nigerians living in London, United Kingdom, have begun a protest to demand the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, who was arrested by the Nigerian government in Kenya last Sunday and extradited to Nigeria. Some of the protesters waved the Biafran flag in a video obtained as they chanted, “ Free Nnamdi Kanu now ”, “ Free Nnamdi Kanu now.” Kanu is a British and a Nigerian citizen and it is believed that he had been staying in the UK. Heavy Gunshots As Soldiers Allegedly Attack Igboho's House, Kill Two Persons In Ibadan

Operatives of the Nigerian military have allegedly attacked the residence of Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, in the early hours of Thursday.  It was gathered that the soldiers unleashed mayhem on the activist’s house in the Soka area of the city as early as 1 am. At least 10 vehicles belonging to Igboho, including his G-wagon, Prado SUVs, and valuable properties, furniture, and windows were destroyed. Bullet holes were also found on the buildings in the compound while bloodstains were seen on the premises.     An eyewitness said, “ They were all soldiers, military men. They came in vans and Hummer buses. They abducted his wife and others.
