A 17-year-old teenager who just gave birth in prison

    Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has decried the delay by the Ondo State Government in releasing Kemisola Ogunniyi, a woman arrested by the police last October during the #EndSARS protest. According to an earlier report Ogunniyi birthed a baby boy while at Surulere Prison in Ondo. Sowore and other well-meaning individuals had called for the immediate release of the young lady, who was arrested in Akure and has been imprisoned since October 24, 2020, while going to a pharmacy to buy drugs for her mother. However, in a recent post on his Twitter handle on Thursday, Sowore stated that the Ondo State government has insisted on holding the baby and mother in custody. He said the lawyer of the lady had filed an application for bail on request of the government, but a date had yet to be given for hearing.   Nigerian activist and RevolutionNow convener Omoyele Sowore has revealed why he was seen in court with a 'Juju man'. Sowore who was later interviewed said that the man who wore the traditional attire normally associated with 'Juju men' is not a herbalist or a 'Juju man' as many described. He said the man is an African man who accompanied him to court dressed in what represents his belief. The human rights activist stated that the reason for the man being there was to discourage people who always look down on African traditions, cultural beliefs, and fashion.
