Governor Charles Soludo has come under fire after he, in a recent viral video, referred to the PDP presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar who visited the state, as "one of the two front-runners" for the 2023 presidential election. This is coming just weeks after the governor in an interview said the investments made by Peter Obi in Anambra state while he was governor are worth nothing today. This has drawn angry reactions from supporters of Peter Obi, many of whom have vowed to make the governor pay for his persistent attacks on their preferred candidate for the 2023 presidential election.

The Women Leader of the Edo State Chapter of Peter Obi (@PeterObi) National Support Group, Helen Taiwo Augustine, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen. She was kidnapped on Wednesday, 7th of December, 2022 at Ibillo in the Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State. As a grassroot mobilizer, it is believed her kidnap can't be unconnected to her influence for the party. She has been credited with being the brain behind the party's followership in the Edo North Senatorial District. This is coming few weeks after the party's Women Leader in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Victoria Chintex, was murdered.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Monday, commenced his presidential campaign in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, with a promise to rescue Nigeria from insecurity and bad economy, and to unite the northern and southern parts of the country. This was as five PDP governors were absent at the commencement of the campaign, which held at the Nests of Champion International Stadium, Uyo, the state capital. The PDP governors that failed to turn up at the rally included the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpaezu, and Enugu State Governor, Ugwuanyi Ifeanyi. This is as the crisis rocking the leadership of the PDP remains unresolved.

The celebration of JIC Igbe's burial has formally kicked off with IKAPTANG community in Ishibohr, Ogoja blazing the trail.  An educationist and former Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Adamawa, Bayelsa and Ebonyi States, Chief Joseph Iyambe Cyril Igbe has passed on at the age of 86. A native of Nkim in Ogoja Local Government Area, Mr. Igbe, fondly referred to as Chief JIC Igbe, passed away on Monday. Asides being INEC REC in three States, he served as the first black principal of MaryKnoll College, Okuku and two other schools.
