Bandits Attack Fulani Settlement In Zamfara

Bandits have attacked a Fulani settlement on the outskirts of Anka town along the Bagega-Anka Road in Zamfara State. Sources told Channels Television that the armed men stormed the area at about 5pm on Wednesday and began to shoot sporadically. But the bandits were engaged in a gun duel by the policemen who were stationed in a mining company along the road, an eyewitness said on Thursday. He stated that no life was lost in the attack, but the bandits rustled an unspecified number of cows belonging to members of the community. The witness said a motorcycle belonging to the leader of Fulani in Anka was also set ablaze by the armed bandits. Police authorities in the state have confirmed the attack, saying the bandits were swiftly repelled by security operatives who recovered the rustled cattle from them. JUST IN: Gunmen Hijack School Bus, Abduct One In Ondo

Some gunmen numbering about eight have hijacked a school bus in a housing estate in Oba-Ile, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State. The incident according to eyewitness occurred early on Thursday morning when the driver of the bus and the attendant were going round to pick the pupils. Fortunately, they were yet to pick any pupil when they were accosted by the armed men. The school bus with registration number Lagos LSD 853 FJ has the name of the school written on it. It was gathered that the suspects, riding on motorcycles and armed with guns, matchetes, and other dangerous weapons forced the vehicle to stop and dragged the driver out. One of the armed men seized the vehicle and drove off with the attendant inside while the remaining members of the group fled the scene with the motorcycles. The spokesperson of Ondo State Police Command DSP Tee-Leo Ikoro said he had not been briefed about the incident.

BREAKING: Tension As Residents Block Kaduna-Abuja Highway, Protest Incessant Kidnapping

  Residents angered by incessant abductions and bandit attacks have blocked the Gauraka Abuja-Kaduna Highway in the Tarfa Local Government Area of Niger State in protest. The irate youths in their numbers went on rampage as early as 6:00am on Monday and barricaded the busy road with bonfire, stones and wood, insisting that nobody will pass until the government addresses the issue of insecurity in the area. It was gathered that kidnappers have been operating in the community on a daily basis and abducted many residents. The residents are angered that bandits have been picking people up from house to house without any intervention by the security agents in the area. Despite the presence of the military barracks – Zuma Barracks– in the area the residents said they were helpless and cannot sleep well. The protesters prevented vehicles from passing on the road. The situation has led to heavy traffic congestion.

Troops Rescue Scores Of Victims Kidnapped By Bandits In Kaduna

    Troops of the Nigerian Air Force have rescued scores of kidnap victims in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Confirming this in a statement, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said the bandits invaded Najaja and Kerawa villages in Igabi Local Government and abducted several people mostly women. He said while they were trying to escape with their victims, a Nigerian Airforce fighter jet on aerial patrol quickly spotted their location and were able to rescue the kidnap victims. The armed bandits according to the Commissioner were moving with the large number of women kidnapped from Ungwan Najaja when the air platforms traced them to the outskirts of the village. On sighting the air platforms and conscious of air interdictions following warning shots, the bandits scampered into the forest and abandoned the women.   The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God  Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said the church would continue to pray to ensure  that the security challenge facing the country is stopped. The cleric said the freedom of members of the church, who were kidnapped in Kaduna State on their way for an evangelism in the state by suspected bandits, was a clear indication that prayer was the only alternative way to end banditry in Nigeria. Adeboye stated this on Saturday while donating some materials and hospital equipments to the  University of Medical Science Teaching Hospital, Ondo State. Represented by the Provincial Pastor in charge of Province 2, Ondo, Goke Aniyenoye, Adeboye noted that the abducted members of the church were released without paying any ransom.
