Soldiers threaten to shoot EFCC officials, recover property seized from NSA’s aide

   Soldiers on Wednesday threatened to shoot officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission that came to mark properties seized from Brig. Gen Jafaru Mohammed, the Director of Finance and Administration at the Office of the National Security Adviser. The EFCC had obtained an interim forfeiture from a Federal High Court in Abuja on March 11, 2021, and proceeded to mark eight properties belonging to the NSA’s aide.  It was reported that after a team of EFCC officials began marking General Mohammed’s building located on 52 Main Street, Sun City, in red paint, armed soldiers arrived in a white Hilux marked GWA481EA and chased the EFCC officials away. Magu’s FULL RESPONSE To Malami’s Allegations Against Him

The suspended acting chairman of the EFFC Ibrahim Magu, has denied that he fraudulently enriched himself by diverting and mismanaging proceeds of recovered assets. In his response to a presidential probe panel investigating allegations of gross misconduct against him by the Attorney general of the Federation (AGF) Abubakar Malami, Mr Magu described the allegations against him as false and calculated to tarnish his image despite the “commendable” achievements of the EFCC under his leadership. In the detailed response, obtained by PREMIUM TIMES, Mr Magu instead accused the office of the AGF of interfering with investigations, recovery and management of recovered assets. He also claimed that the office of the AGF has been “less cooperative and supportive” of the process of assets recovery. Ibrahim Magu Not Suspended – Lawyer insists

Counsel to Ibrahim Magu, Tosin Ojaomo has insisted that his client was still in charge of the Commission. Ojaomo said there is no official communication that Magu has been suspended.Addressing journalists in Abuja, Ojaomo assures that the truth concerning Magu’s current alligations would soon be revealed. “The truth will soon be out. I was there today, but I couldn’t see him. They said I should come early in the morning so I will be there to apply for his bail. The news that someone has been appointed to replace him or that he is under suspension is not true. There is no letter of suspension. Acting EFCC Chairman, Magu, Arrested and detained By DSS

The Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, was arrested on monday july 6 when he was thrown into a cell at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters in Area 10, Federal Capital Territory, shortly after being interrogated by an interagency panel inside Aso Rock Villa, Nigeria's seat of power. Magu's arrest earlier on Monday afternoon had sent a frenzy across the landscape especially with the large number of policemen and Department of State personnel deployed to the EFCC office to seize him. The combined security team stormed the EFCC office at Wuse II in three trucks to arrest and move Magu to the Presidential Villa in the Asokoro area of the Federal Capital Territory to face the panel.
