Oshiomhole Warns Obaseki Over Violence In Edo Ellection

Adams Oshiomhole said that his party will respond accordingly if the PDP decides to turn the September 19 governorship election into violence.

The former governor said the APC would not fold its arms and watch the governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki and the PDP violently steal the peoples’ mandate.

Appearing on Arise Television on Monday, Oshiomhole averred: ‘’We will meet violence with violence.’’

Oshiomhole was reacting to the governor’s alleged threat to deal with APC members and supporters in the guise of dealing with trouble makers.

Recall that Governor Obaseki had earlier warned of stiff penalties against perpetrators of violence in the State.

Reacting to Obaseki’s threat, Oshiomhole said: ‘’if they want violence, we will give them violence.’’

Oshiomhole further explained that, among other things, he turned against his successor because the governor has not met the expectations of Edo people and regretted that he worked with Obaseki in 2016 without asking for his certificate.

Oshiomhole had earlier declared that Obaseki does not pose any threat to the APC candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu in the forthcoming governorship election.

Addressing the party faithful on Sunday, Oshiomhole said obaseki is not even eligible to contest for the election.

Oshiomhole said that it was a known fact that Ize-Iyamu, the APC candidate, finished from law school, adding that his former classmates have testified to that.

937 People Killed In Attacks In Kaduna In 2020

At least 937 people died in violent attacks and mass atrocities in Kaduna State last year, an annual security report by the state government has shown. Amazon To Open African Headquarters In South Africa

Amazon has concluded plans to open its African headquarters in South Africa with a real estate investment of over R4 billion. Authorities in Cape Town said Amazon would be occupying a new development in River Club, a prime section of the city, local media reported. The 15-hectare parcel of land will cost R4 billion and include two precincts. Authorities said the first precinct of 60,000sqm would occupy different layers of development, while the second section of 70,000 will hold Amazon headquarters in Africa. $114.28m COVID-19 loan: SERAP asks World Bank to make Nigeria ‘publicly commit to transparency’

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, (SERAP) has sent an open letter to the World Bank President Mr David Malpass, urging him to use his “good offices to encourage the Federal Government and 36 state governments to publicly commit to transparency and accountability in the spending of the $114.28m credit and grant for COVID-19, which the Bank’s Board of Directors recently approved for Nigeria, including by publishing details on a dedicated websit".
