Uzodimma Makes Case For Air Force School In Imo

Imo State governor, Hope Uzodimma, has requested the establishment of at least one Air Force Secondary School in the state.

This was disclosed, yesterday, in a statement signed by Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser, Oguwike Nwachuku.

The governor said the request would enable Imo to have a sense of belonging like other states where such hi-tech institutions exist.

He made the request when he received in audience senior officers of Air Force Ground Training Command, Enugu, led by the Air Officer Commanding, Air Vice Marshal Frank Oparah, who paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Owerri.

Uzodimma acknowledged the critical role the Air Force played at the peak of insecurity in Nigeria and Imo State, especially in stemming the tide of insurgency. He pledged the state’s support to the Air Force and emphasised the need for the institution’s presence in Imo.

He said: “Imo State is prepared to receive more of your projects,” pledging, “there is enough land for such establishments, as they will assist in the protection of life and property.”

The governor also called on the Air Force to urgently equip their already existing Medical Centre in Imo State, so that both their personnel and the people of Imo State will have access to the health facility.

He reminded them of how highly Imo State government regards Nigerian security agencies, noting that his government depends so much on the partnership.

Oparah said they came to thank Uzodimma for the support and encouragement the Air Force had been receiving from the state. He commended the zeal of the governor in stemming the tide of insurgency in Imo State. He also reassured the governor of the readiness of the Air Force to come to the assistance of the state government when called upon.

Deputy Governor, Prof. Placid Njoku, the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Cosmas Iwu, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Nnamdi Anyaehie, and other top government officials joined the governor in receiving the Air Force Chiefs.

937 People Killed In Attacks In Kaduna In 2020

At least 937 people died in violent attacks and mass atrocities in Kaduna State last year, an annual security report by the state government has shown. $114.28m COVID-19 loan: SERAP asks World Bank to make Nigeria ‘publicly commit to transparency’

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, (SERAP) has sent an open letter to the World Bank President Mr David Malpass, urging him to use his “good offices to encourage the Federal Government and 36 state governments to publicly commit to transparency and accountability in the spending of the $114.28m credit and grant for COVID-19, which the Bank’s Board of Directors recently approved for Nigeria, including by publishing details on a dedicated websit".
